Temporal Lift
Anatomical repositioning upward of tissues supporting the outer part of the eye area
Temporal lift is a procedure that aims to surgically correct laxity, drooping, and volume loss in the outer part of the brow and the lateral region of the eye area. Supporting tissues in the temple region can move downward over time due to gravity, mimetic activity, and tissue weakness. Temporal lift ensures that these tissues are released at the anatomical level and fixed upward.
Who is it Suitable For?
- Patients with significant drooping in the outer 1/3 of the brow
- Individuals with a tired, downward-pulled appearance around the eye
- Individuals whose brow drooping becomes prominent after upper lid aesthetics
- Patients with weakened lateral lid–brow support
- Some selected patients targeting “cat eye” or a tighter lateral contour
- Those who want midface lift in combination.
Stages of the Procedure
1. General anesthesia
2. Small incision within the hair
The incision is invisible from outside as it is located a few 3-4 cm inside the hairline.
3. Release of temporal fascia
Lax tissues in the lateral orbit and temporal fascia are released at the anatomical level.
4. Tissue elevation and fixation
Tissues are moved upward and outward and fixed to solid tissue. This stage ensures that the outer part of the eye area appears tight and balanced.
5. Closure
The incision line is carefully closed within the hair.
Recovery Process
- Mild swelling and tightness sensation may occur in the first few days.
- Mild numbness in the temporal region is a temporary finding.
- Sutures are removed within 5–7 days.
- Results become apparent within a few weeks as edema decreases.
Advantages
- Provides natural lateral brow and eye area support.
- Does not leave a visible scar due to the incision made within the hair.
- Gives much more balanced results when combined with upper lid aesthetics.
- Gives the eye area a more vibrant and rested expression.
Limitations
- Careful planning is necessary as excessive elevation can cause an artificial appearance.
- May need to be combined with endoscopic methods in patients with advanced tissue laxity.
- Temporary numbness and movement limitation may be seen in the outer part of the brow.
Temporal lift is one of the most effective supportive surgical approaches for the outer part of the eye area and provides lateral lifting.
